Xiangxi Three-stick Drum Festival kicks off

The Three-stick Drum Festival of Wuling Mountain Area was held in Ciyantang Town, Longshan County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture on July 5. 11 representative teams from Laifeng County of Enshi Prefecture in Hubei Province, Longshan County of Xiangxi Prefecture in Hunan Province, and other places were invited to participate in it. All seats were occupied in the Jinxia Theater in the afternoon. The event kicked off with “Gongs and Drums to Welcome Guests”. It reminisced about the Red history of Longshan, showcased its beautiful scenery, expressed thanks for the thirty years of pairing assistance from Changsha, and praised the beautiful life in Longshan through four chapters. The rhythmic gongs and drums, humorous lyrics, and folk stunts won continuous applause from the audience. Xiangxi Three-stick Drum is a local folk art that has been passed down in the western border area of Hunan and Hubei. The festival has been held for eight sessions and is deeply loved by the local people. It aims to play the positive role of intangible cultural heritage in scenic areas, promote the active inheritance and development of three-stick drum, and raise the awareness of intangible cultural heritage protection in the whole society.
